Subject: RE: Removing semi wheel lug nuts. Torque converter or impact?

South Texas
I just use a leverage pipe on my 3/4” harbor freight ratchet. The ratchet can take more than the t-handle, I did end up welding the ratchet solid. A good 3’ pipe wrench can be used on the head of the t-bar. I’ve also had tire shop break them for me and re tighten. The problem is, most tire shops severely overtighten lugs. You only have trouble the first time. Your average new high powered 1/2” impact is all that should be used. Torque spec is usually about 450 ft lbs. But tire shops commonly use a 1” impact at 180 psi.
