The rest of the story.
Federal tax return completed for that year included a substantial penalty for failure to pay federal tax on oil company payment for gas exploratory lease. Within a month of submitting that return, IRS check for full penalty amount arrived in US mail with explanation that IRS has determined that penalty did not apply.
Just a little heads up on taxes.
