NW IL | At one time I would have agreed that a substantial portion of the military budget could be allocated to oil trade, however at this point the US is not nearly as dependent on foreign oil and with all the potential 3rd world threats related to obtaining or using nuclear weapons I would be willing to venture even without any oil considerations the military budget would not be cut one penny. To argue it as a subsidy is dangerous, someday when our food exports are subject to simple poisoning or sinking by terrorists, do those costs to protect the shipping end up associated with exporting food and then become considered a farm subsidy also? | |
