So why isn't more wood processing done here? Or is it since IKEA etc. manufacture \ pre assemble abroad, then it just makes sense to ship timber half way around the world only to ship it back in boxes?

My high school coach was the shop teacher and he said that most of the wood headed to Asia was used for oak and walnut veneer? But, Asia preference was changing to the mahogany wood type trees from the rainforest.?

Thank goodness all the US white oak bourbon barrels are milled and assembled here by folks that understand that angels need "their share" but not more more than that! (Save some for us)!
