| Lets not water down the concept. We're not going to fix China but we can improve our relationship in trade. Right now there are no rules and they do whatever they want to whoever. I actually have a product from company that is directly copied down to the user manual (I talked with them about distinguishing which was really theirs). As you say tariffs are what we have and I'm sure it will result in some improvement - maybe even a real grain stocks report.
While buzzwords like trade deficit seems to float around, they don't really mean anything. Outright theft is a definable goal. Tariffs won't last forever and a deal can have a significant benefit to our relationship with China - when countries are talking and holding each other accountable (to a reasonable extent), fighting is rarely the result. So I suppose there is a bonus to consider. | |
