Subject: RE: Colombia river revisited

Pedee, Oregon
Winter along the Columbia can be, and normally is, vastly different day to day and region to region. Here in the Willamette valley we can be 60 degrees and sunny any winter day, and the next day could be 36 and raining sideways.

The Columbia gorge is a giant wind funnel. In the winter we often get events like this. https://fox12weather.wordpress.com/2014/01/20/115-mph-in-gorge-today...

When warmer rain pushes in, the cold air often is trapped in the Gorge and it becomes a 80 mile long skating rink. If the cold air east is strong enough it can last for a week or more.
