Sunnyvale, CA | if you are a km or two from the GPS position in the GGA string you are sending back, then it is kind of like being two km from a regular base station, and having a few ppm (parts per million) - in this example 2 mm extra position error. a few ppm extra error will not be noticed compared the the even greater ppm error from the VRS solution solution which starts at 4 mm and depends upon where you are within the network cell and the state of the ionosphere and how the network software computes the corrections. Different vendors have slightly different VRS algorithms for correcting the ionosphere errors. With low sunspot numbers the ppm errors from the ionosphere are not too large and might not even be noticed. | |
