Yes. In addition, the signal processing done by software is very important.

It is no secret in the surveying world that Navcom/Deere receivers are not in the A league. Much of this has to do with hardware and software implementation.

There are also many 'tricks' used by software engineers to smooth out problems with WAAS and even RTK. Everyone does this to some degree to give the appearance of accuracy especially with WAAS. Some companies again do this better than others. Technology examples are RTK Extend; e-DIF; GLIDE; HP; XP to name a few. There are performance sacrifices made to achieve these appearances but to a farmer the ability to keep working is paramount.

This mostly explains the difference between a 1 sigma an 2 sigma specification. The other factor is marketing optimism of course such as the "sub-inch" RTK myth.
