Sheldon, IA | I was recently at Ag Leader's dealer training in Ames and they stated that they will continue to support the PF series of monitors. They say they should have enough repair parts for the next 10 years or so. They also said that you will be able to buy new combine kits for the PF and YM monitors for the next year and then it will be re-evaluated. They stated that they will probably phase out the older low volume combines first and then phase out more over the years.
Check your moisture sensor closely just below the fin mounted in the plastic is a copper colored peg. That peg is your temperature sensor. When the sensor wears out the copper wears away and leaves a silver peg. If the peg turns silver your temperature sensor is shot and so is the moisture sensor.
The elevator mount will give you more accurate moisture readings because the sensor sits in the grain longer then in the auger with the grain flying by. Like mentioned before the sensor also lasts much longer.
The PF series monitors will give you an on screen map and some application options. You can also mount this monitor in a tractor and record site verification data like tile lines, mapping where you put varieties, marking items (rocks, weed patches, tile inlets, etc.). | |
