southern MN | I farm because I enjoy it.
If I wanted to make gobs of cash I would be doing something else.
I manage farming a little old fashioned, I gather assets and very little cash.
So, in your hypothetical, you would be taking away what I enjoy, and giving me gobs of cash.
It’s pretty easy to see that would not really interest me at all?
What would I do, what would I enjoy then?
I do see ag changing pretty fast here, and industrializing with technology taking over individual farming. I’m glad I’ve had the chance to enjoy what I do, and likely can drift through as long as I want how I want yet. It would be scary to be 20 years old and dreaming of being a farmer. I don’t think what I do would work for a lifetime any more.
