western colorado
IMO the most important variable is the area that you plan on using it. Lots of houses around with a few safe shooting windows? Wide open shoot where you're u want? Or something in between? 17hmr shooting ballistic tip ammo is one of the safest. You should think about the big dogs of varmint guns as well .243 and 25-06 if you have some wide open shooting areas. Little more wind friendly. Also more prone to bounce long distance. I'm pretty tight here shoot rem model 700 .223 long fluted bull barrel. Confirmed coyote kill @ 600yds. Use hollow points or ballistic tips to cut down on ricochet bullets.
