I would say you have the right and responsibility to oversee work being done on your home as to it being up to your expectations. At one point, the OP said that he stayed in a different room until it got quiet.


I had to move just about eveything to another bedroom..watched tv while things got done in the living room.

The installer told me he figured I would raise hell with him, and quietly loaded up his equipement before telling
me...apparently its happened before when he wouldn't do the work unless the guarantee was forfeited. He called the
flooring co.and we talked for awhile about the situation. I sent emails to shaw and told them the 3/16 in 10 feet
was a bs spec. In retrospect, the warranty is only good for a year. The floors are in good shape and will last a long
time. Still..the installer should have offered to take an xtra day to apply the leveling compound. For those that
prefer to leave contractors to their jobs...no interference, no occasional inspection? They are the ones that
bitch the most when they get screwed over.
