If they (the fluorescent tubes) are about an inch in diameter, they're T8 fluorescents. T12, T8, and T5 are 1.5", 1", and .625" in diameter respectively. The 12 means it's 12/8" diameter. T8 is 8/8" diameter. T5 is 5/8 diameter.
