Subject: RE: The Orange Triangle

Central Illinois
I have an old "Illinois Rules of the Road" handbook. It may be 20 years old.

The SMV emblem is not listed in the sign section.

It's listed on the inside back cover under "Other Special Signs". The other 2 signs in that category have their meaning printed right on them, "Reserved Parking $100 Fine" (Handicap Parking) and "Give them a Brake Slow Down" (man with a shovel, road work zone).

Back when I was in Driver's Ed in the early 70's, there were 10 signs you had to know to pass your exam, missing one was automatic failure.

I can't remember if the SMV was one or not.

Maybe someone with a young driver could chime in and tell if the SMV emblem is taught in Driver's ED.
