One of the problems with Tahoe is sometimes it will get quite warm during the day as in well above freezing, then drop below freezing at night coupled with some steep and hair pin turns with some tall trees creating shade across the road leaves for some interesting situations at times as someone will hit black ice in the shade of the trees.

I doubt you will have any problems this winter as it’s been warm and dry. Last winter heavenly I think it was reported 800” of snow. In fact I have pictures of my kids playing in a 5’ tall chunk of snow on August 1st up in the mountains Between Squaw and the North Rubicon pass road.

Tonight’s weather out of Sacramento reported only 16% of normal snow for this time of year. So I doubt you’ll have any driving issues and have the time of your life.
