Oxford County, ON | We had an '02 with the 4.0 V6 and it drove great for the 3-4 years we owned it. Very few issues. My cousin bought it from us and he had a non-serious accident, but it caught fire. We joke that I double-dipped because I sold it to him, then also got paid to put the fire out!
A little out of your age range, but we got a 2008 Explorer Limited with the 4.6L V8 after the '02 and we tore the transmission out of it. Cost 4 grand to have it rebuilt at a transmission shop, and the guy at the shop said we needed to be careful how we drove it because the transmissions weren't strong enough for a V8. We had more trouble with it than the '02.
I loved driving both Explorers but we went to a minivan after the second kid. | |
