Had a 2008 Escape.  Put 120,000 miles on it.  Never had an issue, only 2 recalls in it's life, transmission oil cooler/condenser replaced and something with the power steering.  Eventually traded for a low mileage 2010 Edge a couple years ago.  It had 38,000 miles on it.   Now have 70,000 miles on it and never a problem.  I like the Edge better, seats are bigger, more comfortable, especially in the back,  Adults can ride in the back comfortably in the Edge.  Both had the v6 and had lots of power.  Escape had a 3.0 and the Edge has a 3.5.  An Edge is basically a Fusion with a taller cab on it.
