| I noticed that. I sold a few pieces of equipment at consignment auctions.
All of it can be used or needs some minor repairs or use as a parts machine.
But you never know what things will bring at those sales.
About three years ago in February my brother in law that works for a real estate auction company had a auction of farm equipment for a farmer that sold his farm.
Mostly John Deere equipment. He got caught with a real nice and clean JD 265 disc mower for $3000.
The owner touch up some places on the mower that paint wore off while using it during hay season with a can of spray paint.
Some people thought he was hiding something. So they was scare of it or was not thinking straight.
I took it and it ran like a new one.
Some the next month I sold the two old mowers I had in a consignment sale.
They needed some tlc done to them.
I was hoping they bring half of what I gave for the JD265.
I haul them in few days before the sale and did not go back on sale day.
Got my check and one brought $3100 and the other $1200.
You can get more for stuff at a consignment sale than you could selling it yourself. | |
