Have you tried changing speeds on the corn head? My 2206 has high and low gearbox. I found that low speed is fine up to 4.5 mph. And with knife rolls still processes the stalk.
Is your feeder house chain adjusted properly? What is your drum height set at. If it is set in the low position it could shell some corn as it feeds in.
