Subject: Creating Management Zones

Kansas
I would like to do some experimenting with creating zones based mainly off of multiple years of yield data and soil types. I would like to soil sample by zones and then VRT fertilizer per sample results per zone. I know there has been much discussion on here about grids vs zones, all that I have experience with is grid sampling. We currently have a few farms that have not yet been grid sampled and I would like to take the opportunity to try a zone approach on a couple of farms to get a first hand comparison of the two methods.

I am just looking for input from others on how they created their zones. What data did you use to create them and what software are you working with? Also what software or equipment are you using to physically do the sampling?

Any advice or input is appreciated.

I currently only have SMS Basic and Apex so I'm not sure I have the zone creating ability I need.

Thanks
