I quit considering Deutsch connectors to be expensive years ago (as long as you don't buy them from terminal supply co...damn!) In the big picture, when the alternative is replacing the entire cable, they are cheap.
That being said, I've used some amphenol connectors made to be compatible, and found them to work just as well.
