I use the bottom 3/4 of a 2 liter pop bottle to freeze ice for my 1 gallon jug. I keep 2 or 3 of these in the bottom shelf on the door of our upright freezer, near the hinge side so they don't spill when the freezer door is opened. I don't bother to take the ice out of the bottle, just retrieve the bottle from my jug in the evening and refill it then.
