If you have 6 kernels throughout the swath, that would still be less than one third of a bushel per acre. Since it is only beneath the straw, you're probably only doing half or one third of that. Sounds pretty good, to me. 900.000 seeds per bushel is a popular value.

If all of the walker system components are in place......curtains, "fishbacks", side belting, etc. as discussed, then there's not much other "adjusting to be done re: the walkers other than to perhaps to reduce travel speed slightly.....although that's not a popular concept these days.

I'd agree that one needs plenty of wind. Do you have a yield monitor? If so, where does it show the loss coming from? I wouldn't be concerned about it, but if YOU are, and if conditions are otherwise good, you might open the chaffer the TINIEST bit, as long as you have an acceptable sample. showboat

Wheat seed generally varies from a low of 9000 to a high of 15000 seeds per lb. I generally figure an average of 12000 seeds per lb.if you don't know exactly. So about 700,000 seeds per bushel. If loss is evenly spread over entire field, (43000 sq. ft) 16 kernels per sq. ft. would equate to a 1 bu. loss. If only in the windrow, (assuming a 4 ft. windrow), your windrow is only 1/6 of your header width. A one bushel/acre loss in this scenario would take nearly 100 kernels per sq. ft.
