A lot of things in the cloud have an implicit trade where you get something cool and useful for free or little money, and in exchange you give up something in terms of your privacy or data ownership.
The problem is that your farm data is not like your photos in the Google photos app.
Your farm data is more analogous to the information in our enterprise accounting software.
It is business data and is a snapshot of financial outcomes and decisions.
Farmers are being super exploited right now and it is shameful because tech companies are preying on the fact that most farmers aren't super tech literate.
It is hard to imagine the long term implications of some of the business models in the industry right now.
