East Kansas, DeSoto | Ours like this was on a 1939 B John Deere without the flywheel as a few with flywheel jammed flywheel would break an some one was in trouble. At 18 years old was going around the countryside custom sawing for $2.00 per hour, no charge for break time, no travel time and no charge for file time. We ran a sawmill too. 2 cents per board foot. Powered with a 1925 D John Deere and or a 1922 Oil Pull Rumley which we now are going to sell. Sawing lumber was dangerous too. The blade caught a slab out of my brothers arms and sent it past me through the air some 200 feet or more and hit the chimney of our sorghum making area. I miss my 1951 Oliver 77 Diesel as this is when I learned there was really another Green tractor!. Restoring a B John Deere currently. Gifford | |
