| This year I ran a 16 row 7200 planter with the eset disks and two fans on a 8100 JD tractor. The tractor does not have enough hydraulic capacity to keep the fans running when the planter is raised up. The loss of VAC causes the seeds to drop out of the disks when you turn on the ends and it will not start planting again for 10 feet or so. I had to over plant the ends in order to compensate but I have random dead spots with weeds anyway.
I am installing a PTO driven hydraulic pump to drive the fans and will just use the tractor hydraulics to lift the planter.
The other option is an 8130 tractor that has a 60gpm hydraulic pump.
I like the price of the PTO pump option better. | |
