School didn't matter, the night before you washed your arms, face, neck and ears. Anything more than that was wasting water. Mother didn't take kindly to "good" shirts having a ring of dirt after a day of use. And you were expected to use hair oil/cream to comb your hair in the morning, greasy look was expected by the parents.
You only better be putting 3" of water in the tub as well. It was a couple days of walking on egg shells to have Culligan bring out 1000 gals of water for the cistern if it went dry. That happened in the winter most times. | |
