How long has this field been in crop production?   I recall you sharing some rock pics in the past.  It sounds like the yields are crazy good, after lots of effort.  What kind of value is put on land like seen here..... before and after rock picking?  If you make a couple of passes, when will you need to pick rock again?  

 



This field has been irrigated for probably 25+ years, but the really ugly rock part has only been farmed for maybe the last 8-10.

Land values around here have been crazy lately, and don't seem to be dropping much yet. A realtor friend says there is a deal in the works for a place that's about half rock (maybe not quite this bad) and half good ground for $10k per acre. We will see if it happens or not.

If we make a couple of passes picking, we may not do this ground again at all. Once we get to the point that rocks aren't getting stuck in the disk and we can do tillage at a more normal pace it's hard to justify very thorough picking on rented ground. Hard to say, depends on how long we will have the place and what other places are higher on the picking priority list.
