In Illinois we call an central agency called JULIE. They then notify all persons we ,have water, sewer, fiber optics, electric, gas, etc. they have I believe 48 hours to mark it. IF they don't come mark it OR it's improperly marked, it's on them if you hit something, but I would NEVER ago without calling whatever Iowa uses. If you would hit a fiver line is over 100k to start. Yikes!
