Subject: RE: Shaking my head...organics/natural/pesticides

southern MN
Before there was Internet a fella on Fidonet communicated with me through a gardening type forum.

He had to get out of Tennessee, too much polution down there.

He wanted to go all organic, was bothered by the toxics in the air and water.

Ended up moving to northern MN closer to the headwaters and less pollution.

On his way through he stopped by.

Rolled several cigarettes in his brief stop, and his wife mentioned the Roundup he used along the driveway and around the buildings to keep things neater.

Was a nice fella.

I think people have lost focus on what is important.

We got into too much convenience food, too much fats and especially too much sugar. Stuff that keeps a long time, fits our cravings for fat and sugar, and can be ready in 1 minute 30 seconds replaced 'food'.

It's good for people to again be concerned about eating healthy.

For a while here it seems people have confused 'organic' with 'healthy'.

Because, instead of working on better quality foods, we can just buy the same foods off the 'organic' shelf and fix our problems.

Is farmers produce good healthy basic ingredients. Organic or conventional, I might say the conventional are a bit more wholesome.

It's how they get prepared and presented and consumed that makes 'good' or 'junk' food out of those ingredients.

Not the label on the package.
