Got a neighbor who uses no till most of the time also strip till's.. Im going to try to follow what he does in a couple of his fields that I know are clay soils. He swears that he is able to save enough on tillage to allow for less yield.
I rode in his combine in one of his no till fields (soy), IMHO, corduroy. Very noticable wheel tracks all going the same direction. You couldnt drive a pickup at 10mph across the field(way too bumpy), . Then you have the pivot wheel tracks to contend with.
All Im saying is we all see things differently and rationalize what we do. If he is making money and happy, good for him.
