Subject: RE: Insulation turn black in attic

Get a qualified contractor or 2 and have them look at it. Could be numerous things. Not enough ventilation from the soffit up to the roof vents. Be carefull with the ventilation it could end up with snow blowing in through the soffit, maybe that's happened already during the winter. This has happened in house's in wide open priaries, with no shelter. Maybe not enough insulation should have R50 in the attic be careful around any recessed lights. Could be no vapor barrier in the ceiling. Maybe snow blowing in through attic or gable vents. Don't mean to scare you, these things have happened. All the best
