I had the exact thing with my 2520 gas. It was always when I was cultivating....I tried something and it worked 100% every time after that It was a vapor lock and I would loosen the sediment bowl and let the hot gas run out, when the cool gas started coming I would tighten it up again, she would then run full bore for another hour again. Worked for me.
Is this an electronic ignition on a 3020?
