Subject: Freightliner A/C diagnosis

West-central Illinois
'99 Freightliner FLD 112 w/ a C12 CAT. A/C won't work properly. There is a light system under the hood that is suppose to troubleshoot what is happening. The light is blinking once which means the refrigerant is low. I have a A/C for dummies kit that I plugged on and it initially read around 0 lbs of pressure. So, I added some and the guage went to about 30...I stopped adding. After leaving the guage on, I saw that the pressure would drop from 30 to 0 every 30 seconds or so. I added a little more. Now the pressure is at 45 and continues the same pattern only it now drops from 45 to 0. I then got in the bunk and heard a hissing noise where the compressor/condensor (not sure which) is located. The hissing noise occured every 30 sec or so which leads me to believe it has something to do with the loss of pressure. What is the problem here...possible solutions? TIA
