Subject: Re: Bulk oil

Mike, nice looking settup but am wondering how stable it is. Any chance of tipping it over while rolling across the floor say if a wheel hit a small rock?

IHboog built a loft in one corner of our shop & we put our bulk containers up there & out of the way. We have two 110 gals & two 70 gals. In one 110 is engine oil & the other has Hy-Tran. One 70 gal has JD Hyguarde while the other holds premixed anitfreeze. Also have a 55 gal drum of mineral spirits for the parts washer & a 55 gal drum that holds K-1 for the hot water pressure washer.

All the tanks have a 1/4 turn valve at the discharge bung of the tank. Lines from the 3 oil tanks run to the end of the loft & down to 1/4 turn valves that have bango disconnects & a catch tray below where we can fill small containers. When we change engine or hyd oils in a tractor we park it near the oil loft & plug a long hose into the appropriate valve & let gravity do the work. Also have 55 gal barrels for each oil that can be filled from the overheads & pumped into equipment like combines that are too tall to be filled by gravity.

Below the top of the loft are recessed shelves hold all the filters and small quntities of oil products such as jack oil, compressor oil, oil cans, & a rack to hold funnels. There is also an area to roll the 55 gal drums back under & out of the way as well as space fo battery chargers, floor jacks, & a rack to hang chains. load binders & clevis' on. Amassing how much stuff it will hold & has given us a place for a lot of clutter that use to take up floor space.
