Not understanding markets and mitigating risk to reach profit goals is no different making sure planter is set correctly, combine set correctly, herbicides and fertilizers applied timely. It's all part of the job
Providing crutches only makes other parts of the body weaker. Revenue insurance is one of the many crutches farmers get subsidized that makes other parts of them weaker(marketing). They all say well we are guaranteed x price thru insurance. Even then seeing the numerous questions on here about crop insurance I can't believe how many call themselves farmers and don't even understand it. I don't care if you have had a claim before or not. I would think a guy would understand what he buys before he buys it.
