In farming, especially internet farming, employer/employee issues are always a hot button topic. In general, but with a few exceptions, farmers hold a high level of disdain for employees. 

 Only you know the actual situation you are in. But you already mention "but they act like I'm insulting them". Which to me says a lot.

 If it is very important to you to be involved with certain decisions and you are not allowed, then IMO, you have some decisions to make about you future.
