Own small farm near Booneville, MS | I don't have an "scientific evidence" to back this up, but after observing people for many years it is my opinion that everyone is addicted to something. For some, it's a drug (prescription, legal, illegal, whatever), for others it might be something they do (a sport, hobby, even work). For still others it might be a belief system. There are drug addicts, sex addicts, workaholics, TV addicts, cleaning addicts, food addicts, adrenaline addicts, etc. If a person directs his/her addictive propensity toward something good then both that person and society benefits. If that addictive propensity is directed toward something harmful both that person and society suffers. That may be overly simplistic, but I think there just might be something to it. |
