| It happens on my place most years (used to be 1 out of 4 years, but lately it's more like once or twice a year). I've never had a problem with grazing it after a flood, but it generally takes about 2 weeks here before the grass comes back in full force. If it was rushing water and not just pooling water, most of what was standing will be dead and new shoots will come up (same as if you had clipped it). I'd just watch to see if they're overgrazing the areas that didn't get flooded, and give them some hay if they are, but I suppose that goes without saying.
Look on the bright side, though. This year it will suffer, but next year you'll have some very fertile pasture courtesy of your neighbors' fields :) | |
