Subject: Educate me on chopping alfalfa

Western Iowa
Feeding some feeder cattle. I have 25-30 acres of new alfalfa grass mix that I seeded this spring that I planned on rolling up and tub grinding. Looks good, but is starting to have some weeds peaking up.

I got to thinking, I have a decent pull chopper, what plan of attack should I use just to swath it and cut it? Time between swathing and chopping? Do I dare pile it up against my corn silage?

Worth the hassle or go back to plan A and roll it up and tub grind it?

Also how long before I can feed it? Is it about 30 days like corn silage?
