Yeah, this thing really is heavy--weighs more than you'd think. I took off the squeeze gate side for painting the inside and that alone must have weighed 80+ lbs. Not worried about bending anything.

I think I've tried the drop gate rope in every position. One of the problems is that the pulley at the top doesn't swivel. I just bought a different one to replace it, that swivels. The other (as you can see in the picture) is that just out from the latch the rope runs through a single link of chain (so when you pull the rope the latch pulls straight out). But the rope doesn't slide through that loop nearly as easy as it would through a pulley, so I may rework that too.

Do you like your Filson? I thought they looked like a good idea, being able to tip either way. But we didn't have any dealers close so I hadn't seen one other than online, and the ForMost I had looked at, at the MO State Fair last year.
