Subject: RE: modular vs site built

We have lived in a Modular home since 1993. It was built in Dyersville (all american homes) and then finished on site. (added Garage). We had a the basement/foundation done by a local masonry guy. Compare it to my sisiter's stick built house built a year later for 3 times the money in Omaha and ours looks like a no-brainer. I have all 2x6 walls (interior and exterior) 16" OC. (hers:2x4 ) I have 2x 12 floor supports 16" OC. (hers: 2x8) . We are happy with our Modular home and it will last just as long a stick bulit and it will not depriciate in value any more than a stick built will with proper maintenance....the only thing the wife would like to change now is the kitchen (and that would happen in any house) :)
