It is just like any job. It has its days.. some days its 18 hours of being called every name in the book and GPS issues that you cant figure out on the spot and support is all back up.. Seems like the "simple fixes" turn into the longest.. a farmer might call and say they are having a issue that you think "ok" that's a easy fix but then once you get out there its something very different.. so that call turn from a 15 min stop to a 2 hour stop.. mean while you got farmer "B" that's blowing up your phone bc you are 15 min late from the time you thought you would be there. then calls farmer "C" who just has a simple question but dosnt know how to use the display soo you have to walk him through his display while working on farmer "b" display unit... you need to be able to multi task and hold your tongue.. some farmers understand that this stuff dosnt always work.. and some will call you if the display "beeps" at them one time.. As far as planting or harvesting or working ground.. you wont be doing much of your own. but come summer and the sprayers are out it slows down a little... come fall it gets crazy again and winter is busy with installs and sales and classes..
I have worked on John Deere-trimble-CNH-raven-and Top con displays Because the farmer cant get a hold of their specialist so ill lend a hand..
your not just service your sales, support, service, teacher and sometime a !@#$ !Q@#$ !@#$# $%^&#%$^% @#$%^$W# but after you get the issue fixed they all seem to be your friend..
I have met a lot of farmers and enjoy being able to help them out.. before you agree to the job make sure you will be paid for your time well because your phone starts ringing at 5 am and sometimes never stops all day... people will pay for a Mr or Mrs fix it when it comes to their GPS soo be sure to have a healthy number ready of what you would like to make..
good luck
