At least under private ownership, property taxes are paid, schools would benefit, maybe new investments would be made. Private owners can do with it what they want. So be it if Ted Turner buys up a million acres. That is better then the feds owning it, limiting use, and harassing tax paying citizens. If you take out national parks, military bases, office buildings, historic sites etc you still have millions upon millions of acres that maybe just maybe private owners could develop and provide money for roads, schools, bridges, resource exploration. Maybe more jobs??


Then what if it's not Ted Turner but foreign countries through their investors that would be buying the land and just locking it up for their own purposes that we can't begin to know about.. btw, how much of the US land/farmland is already owned by foriegn investors?
Just curious...
