Help, snakes in the house

Subject: Help, snakes in the house



swMN		Wife saw a garter snake in the living room , I was outside doing chores she came out screaming bloody murder. I caught the snake tossed it outside. Shes deathly afraid of them and this one was only 6 inches long and as big around as a pencil, last fall found 3 of them in the basement. 100+ year old farm house dirt floor in basement, rock mortar foundation. We have lived here 12 years ,last fall and now were the first times for snakes, plenty of mice but not snakes, was gonna tell the wife the snakes eat mice but shes ready to move out. Anybody else get snakes? How to get rid of them? TIA
