I didn't get a lot of pics, but my phone's camera doesn't take a very good picture anymore. It does not do yesterday any justice. It's time for an upgrade, or I should start carrying around my old Sony again. We've had some bad days in the last three or four years, but yesterday ranks up there as one of the worst. The brown on the horizon isn't from any local fields blowing. It's all suspended dust from SW Kansas and SE Colorado. The skies were clear until just after 1:00pm when the dirt hit. This could of silt polishing my paint is from land that is supposed to be in CRP, but planting grass in a drought is a fool's effort. By 4:00pm or so, visibility at the house was about a half-mile. Strip-tilled corn stubble was blowing, especially if it had been grazed hard. Things didn't look too bad this morning going to the farm, but I haven't been around to our other fields yet. We have some wheat that wasn't looking good before; I'm sure it's gone completely by now. |
