I've had a few of them back when I still had Herefords (live and learn).   I always had the vet remove the eye immediately and always kept them around for a few more years because I figured they don't bring anything anyway.   We almost always got away with it.   Only had one that died on me, the other 2 eventually went to the sale barn, and only brought half of what they should have.   The other eye was good.

As I said, I'd take the eye out, don't wait.
