Subject: RE: Niche market hogs

Whiting, Iowa

Yes, I have hoop buildings for finishing. I have never fed acorns, but I know a couple guys in our group that have. I'm not sure where they got them, but I know they didn't have any trouble getting them and they are expensive. But they do it whenever there is an order for acorn-fed pork. I've never eaten the acorn-fed pork, but  I have heard it is very good. We must get a huge premium for it or we wouldn't do it. Our hogs are slaughtered on Wednesday each week at Pine Ridge Farms packing plant in Des Moines.
