Same thing in our house, we ran duct from the furnace in the basement, up through the first floor in the corner of the living room. We covered that with sheetrock and you cant tell. It went through one of the closets up stairs into attic, there it was diverted with insulated round duct work to each room. That was 8 years ago and it cost us $900 bucks.
