Yes, he sits on the other side of the grain desk in a sense, but if you lived near him and watched what his outfit has bid to source corn in the time frames when they knew they were going to be short of physical bushels, they were very aggressive about it. And their incentives appear to have done a pretty good job. Out of all the things that have been thrown at the 2013 corn crop, probably nobody could have predicted such a barnburner of a finish. Not so good for kernel fill, but good for keeping a trickle of corn going through the pipeline. |
